El valle - Bahía Solano

The gateway to Colombia's northern Pacific coast. A coastal municipality where the Chocó rainforest meets the sea, humpback whales arrive each year to give birth in its warm waters, and Afro-Colombian communities have built a way of life in harmony with the territory — one that today forms the foundation of responsible tourism in the region.

🤝 Afro-Colombian community

Over 75% of Bahía Solano's population identifies as Black, mixed-race, Afro-Colombian, or Afro-descendant. This heritage is expressed in the gastronomy, crafts, and medicinal knowledge of the territory — and in the work of community organizations like Asociación Caguama, which today protects sea turtles along these beaches. When you travel with us, your money stays with the families who care for this land.

👚Clothing: light, neutral colors, easy to wash and dry. For the nocturnal turtle watching, dark clothing only — no white or fluorescent.
👟Footwear: at least one pair of closed-toe grip shoes and one pair that can get wet. Activities mix river, jungle, and beach.
🧴Sunscreen: biodegradable is mandatory in reef areas. Insect repellent is essential.
💵Cash: bring enough before boarding. There are very few ATMs and almost no card readers in the Pacific.
📵Offline mode: signal is limited or nonexistent. Download maps, music, and anything else you'll need before you leave.
🎒Luggage: waterproof bag or rain cover recommended. The Pacific's humidity is constant and real.
🌿Mindset: open and patient. The Pacific runs on its own rhythm — and that's exactly what makes this trip unlike any other.

Nuquí

Nuquí sits on the Gulf of Tribugá — one of the last pristine gulfs in South America. Unlike other Pacific destinations, nature here remains almost entirely untouched: natural hot springs rising from the jungle, Utría National Park with its coral reefs, beaches free from mass tourism infrastructure, and Afro-Colombian and Emberá Dobidá indigenous communities who have inhabited these coasts and rivers for centuries.
